As a nation-wide lockdown is imposed to combat COVID-19, the families in our weaving communities across South India are losing all sources of income. These artisan communities are falling through the gaps in State and Central relief programmes.
Together with the Shreni Relief Fund, you can fund their survival. We are trying to give them direct financial aid to combat the cycles of debt that these families are stuck in.
Shreni Community Trust has a network of over 1500 workers, with secondary access to several thousand more from the informal sector. Our members are spread over the south Indian states, in clusters such as Kallur, Shigli, Kamatagi, Guledgudda, Channapatna, Srikakulam, and Gadwal amongst others.
From our networks, we are identifying 500 of the most vulnerable weaver and artisan families who will receive direct financial support to address their immediate needs such as food grains and medical supplies and also to make credit and loan payments.
